Freeze Your Tea

Freeze Your Tea

As we get deeper into July, it is becoming clear that summer is upon us. Hot days at the pool, running around in the sprinkler, sitting by the beach, laying out, and feeling the golden rays of the sun soak into our skin. As great as all that is, one side effect of summer is that it is really hot. Most turn to popsicles that you buy at the grocery store, or lemonade mix, but you don’t have to stop there – you can freeze your tea. You can make popsicles from whatever blend of tea you like – Green Tea, Black Tea and mix fruit in it to keep it fruity and refreshing.

The Happy Apple in particular has a recipe for Strawberry Green Tea Popsicles:

Ingredients
  • 1 pound strawberries, hulled

  • 2 tsp. freshly squeezed orange juice

  • 2 cups green tea, brewed and chilled
  • 2 Tbsp. agave nectar
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine all ingredients. Blend for 30 seconds or until mixture is smooth.
  2. Divide mixture between popsicle molds and freeze for 6 hours.
  3. Enjoy!

And there you have it – a great recipe you can use to cool off with tea. You can use all sorts of tea to replicate the same thing. You could even go herbal and try some rose tea – that would be a pretty popsicle.

Another way to freeze your tea is to go with making ice cubes.  You just choose your tea and put it in the ice tray. This is a great way  to bring tea flavor to your favorite beverages. You can give that lemon lime soda a kick of green tea or your favorite juice a little taste of herbal. You could even use these iced teas to make a slushie or a smoothie that much more awesome.

Whether you make ice cubes, slushies or popsicles with your tea – it is a great way to cool off for summer. Maybe it will make that mid day popsicle that much more proper.
