A national-level tea research center will be built in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, to enhance development of tea production technology in China. This center, which is expected to carry out research and development activities for tea growing and production, will not only improve tea producing technology in Liuzhou but also play an important part to serve the development of the tea industry in China as a whole.
The center is the first national-level research organization dedicated to agricultural sciences in Guangxi. There are three other national-level research centers in the autonomous region that focus on energy, material and manufacturing, respectively. In addition, the Liuzhou agricultural sciences promotion center has been commissioned to build the tea research center, which will serve as a branch for the Hangzhou-based Tea Research Institute. The Tea Research Institute, an organization under the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, was officially set up in Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang province, in August 2008. The institute is the only research center in China dedicated to the development of tea production technology. The Liuzhou branch of the Tea Research Institute will focus on technologies that are badly needed for the industrialization of tea. The center will also help establish Liuzhou’s position as a hub in Guangxi in terms of nurturing tea technology and tea experts.
This is great news in terms of Tea, there will be more research done and more innovation in the Chinese Tea market, which will influence the global commerce of tea. More research and more recognition – that’s something to raise a cuppa to.
